Raita is a fresh accompaniment to the Indian meal. Cucumber contains 95 percent water, which keeps us hydrated and flushes out toxins, enabling better digestion. All this benefits our blood pressure.

Since curd and cucumber are both low in calories and highly hydrating, this spicy and delicious combination of cucumber raita can do wonders for our bodies. Easy, quick and nutrient dense, this raita recipe is a must to add to your lunch menu.

  • Bowl


  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cucumber, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 bowl of curd
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 lemon
  • Handful of coriander leaves finely chopped


  1. Take the curd and add onion, cucumber and lemon juice.
  2. Season with salt, red chilli powder and coriander leaves.
  3. Mix well and put in the fridge for a while.
  4. Serve chilled.
